Event Description

Madness & Chaos…

It’s a cool September evening at the CDC’s level 4 bio-facility, Pender Brook. The compound is over 100 acres of rolling Pennsylvania woodlands. Its remote location keeps most locals away and makes it much easier to spot unwanted guests. On top of that, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) recently declared the compound a site of national security interest. So now there are a number of military personnel responsible for keeping watch over… the wildlife & trees; CDC Base Security teams already handle the facility.

A large FEMA project has been keeping almost all employees and a large number of contractors busy at the facility for double shifts. No one person knows what’s being worked on, just that it’s from FEMA and the budget is large; large enough to pay a LOT of overtime, so no one asks too many questions.

You’re close to finishing your double shift and looking forward to finally getting off site and relaxing at the local watering hole. The antiseptics the cleaning crews have been using for the past couple of hours have been irritating your eyes, despite your complaints.

As your last meeting of the afternoon is wrapping up, the facility bio-hazard alarms come on. It’s the 7th one in the past two weeks but everyone still responds quickly (the sooner the drill is wrapped up, the sooner people can leave). As your group is headed to its assigned “shelter in place” safe zone, the air handles turn off and lights begin to flicker: not a usual occurrence and one that makes every one a little uneasy to the realism of this drill. You see several Base Security members run through an intersection ahead of you and as you round the corner, a scene of madness & chaos unfolds in front of you.

Blood soaked bodies are strewn across the hallway and before you can even begin to count them, let alone assess their condition, your attention is shattered by the gunfire that has erupted half way down the hall. Before the lights in this area completely fail, the last thing you see is the Facility Director & two of his assistances spring up from the bloody bodies, their faces covered with blood, lunging at the Base Security members. Gunfire lights the hallway like a strobe: each flicker of light is accompanied by a vision of the director’s body being ripped apart by bullets… but they keep staggering forward.

Before your brain can even begin to digest this information, screams erupt from behind and people begin running, shoving and falling in the dark. How you & the other handful of others survived that first encounter in the hallway and made it to the front facility entrance, you’ll never know. What you do know is there are only a handful of you alive, you’ve very little equipment and the sounds of moaning and scrapping seem to be all around you and getting closer.

Think fast, keeping moving.

No, we didn't play after dinner. The rain got worse as we expected. So, we stayed in the cabins and played Zombies!!! 4 and other card games.

A winter game would be interesting. Hadn't really considered it before...

Did you guys play any more after dinner?

The rain was incredibly sucky, but I'm looking forward to the next Zombie Hunt! How about a winter Zombie game? ;)

What? You're so sweet your gonna melt or something? It'll be what it'll be. If the rain gets too bad, we figure out a plan 'B' on the spot...

Mike/Nathan, any chance you guys could post GPS/Google Earth coords for the turn into the top camp from 30. And let me know if you need props or anything else for SAT.

Indeed. So long as the brains are over 14 and have a signed waiver (if under 18 also have it signed by parent or guardian) as well as adequate protection gear :)
