I added a new RSS feed to the main page of darkthreads.ning.com for The Mythos Society - http://mythossociety.ning.com/activity/log/list?fmt=rss
This new group is for people interested in Cthulhu Live. I think that there will be a lot of overlap with Dark Threads, and Firefight! here.

Karma9 August 2009 – Day 107
Sunday was a bad day. I knew it when I woke up to the sound of automatic weapons fire and the smell of the cabin going up in smoke. I don't know if it was BD finally drawing the ire of God Almighty or if I was just receiving karmic backlash for our shenanigans last night, but I was not a happy camper.
I stumbled out of my bunk, threw my boots on and fumbled for my sidearm, only to realize that it was stowed in one of the cars for safekeeping. Cursing… Continue
Pressing Engagements8 August 2009 – Day 106
We arrived right on schedule thanks to Julie’s ability to navigate these woods. The camp wasn’t really much of anything; a rundown old cabin, some tents, a few shanty huts, and a few dilapidated cars serving as bunks. Still, some shelter was better than no shelter. Naturally, the locals were suspicious about a group of armed men entering their camp. But I think we were helped by the fact that we showed up in broad daylight and didn’t st… Continue
Prologue7 August 2009 – Day 105
Gangbangers may not be very bright and they may start running scared when you blow holes in a couple of them, but they can be a huge problem in large numbers. They chased us to the Mason-Dixon Line but refused to go any farther. It seems that another rival gang, the “Minutemen,” occupy Western PA. From what little I could glean from their chatter, the Minutemen don’t pull punches. They’re well-trained, well-coordinated, and well-armed; bad hombres.… Continue
The Best Darn Sunglasses I Ever Had, and There's Something for Everyone

One of the interesting directions we find our small business moving in lately is providing affordably-priced, high-quality eyewear. It has always been important to us to have good eye protec… Continue

It's been awhile, but I'm back! Just ordered some X-Camo from Dark Threads, TY Mirv! I've only been to one AS event this year, and wasn't too impressed. I really wanna get out there! I've also gotten into WW2 AS, which is a growing part of the AS community,as more period weapons are being released every year. It's good to be back,I look forward to talking to some of you,and seeing you guys in the field! Continue

Ok, so Nathan asked me to throw up an AAR for Part 2, so I figured I could do that while I have the internet access that I do.
The day started off following three Operators; Step Brothers Ryan Polaris and Shawn Novak and their cousin Larry DiBiaso. As we walk through the wilderness from Ryan's Army Surplus store, we run into a local who yells out a word to us. "Pittsburgh" he yells. We ask what he means by pittsburgh, and he fires a shot at us. Before he can find cover, he is mowed down by a st… Continue

Hello all. I seem to have lost my black knee pads. The last place I had them was the Solus event. Perchance did anyone pick them up at the event or find them laying around? Thanks.

I have a bit more appreciation (intellectually at least) for this Michael Yon post about the applicability of tracking since I recently finished reading The SAS Guide To Tracking.
Even though our stakes in airsoft are decided by mere ballistic plastic I believe that tracking and observation should be an important part of the game. Engage… Continue
...was very awesome. I just haven't had time to say much about it because of a sudden emergency at home. Everything is under control now, but we had a bit of a scare yesterday. Ping me if you want to know more about that.
I really enjoyed the Solus kickoff event. I have very little experience LARPing, but I have been doing historical recreation with the SCA for many years. I like the idea of costuming and roleplaying, so its a wonder that I haven't been more involved in LARP up until now.
The… Continue

I'd like to think of Firefight! as a poor man's Tactical Conflict Assessment Framework (TCAF). ;) Continue

The operator card has been updated to reflect the latest state of the rules including weapon maintenance and the ammo subsystem up for play testing.
I tried to keep everything on one side of the card but things started to get too crammed thus diminishing the card's overall usefulness.
There are now two files; front and back. I split the op card sheet out to two separate files because printing consecutive pages from the sa… Continue

This is written in developer-speak so it's not written in stone and isn't exactly pretty and it is known that it will take some tweaking to be show ready. Of course any feedback is much appreciated.
A weapon is always considered to be in one of three ammunition states:
High
Low
Empty
High: The operator using the weapon can use as many physical magazines and types as he wishes. And he may dip into his "out of game" BB supp… Continue
EDIT: Go here for the latest on Ammo
After much debate, we've decided to try a more direct approach to tracking ammunition. This change will be play tested at the upcoming Solus kickoff event.
Instead of the abstract 'Reloads' and ammunition checks, operators will get boxes of ammunition.
A box of .30 ammunition box is about 45 BBs.
A box of shotgun shells is about 45 BBs.
A box of .20 ammunition is about 90… Continue
It was a great day for airsofting, and I had a great time. The turnout was great, the field was challenging, the game was dynamic, and another remarkable thing was the unprecedented number of women at the game: at least seven out of roughly 70 players total (that's a guesstimate). I finally, really got to play with my CA M15 XM177, after it was upgraded by Amped Airsoft. What an amazing difference in the performance level! I am very happy with it. Continue
